I do have a couple myself, but it would be interesting to hear other people's too ! Husband is back from business trip tonight, so no harm in scaring myself tonight
.
I'll start with the one that perhaps scared me the most, and made my husband who is a very rational man sleep with the lights on all night. Two years ago we had had an exhausting 400 mile round trip up north, to attend the funeral of a friend and her children. It had obviously been a very emotional day, and one could argue that this could have affected our perceptions, but still....
Anyway, I woke up at about 1 am and heard scratching downstairs. Suspecting the cat of destroying the furniture, I sent MR NDB downstairs to sort things out. He wasn't very pleased to be woken but reported back that the cat was fast asleep on the sofa. About ten minutes later, with MR NDB fast asleep again, the scratching started again - this time I sent him down to kick the cat out. He. however, returned with cat in tow and tucked it up in bed with us ( as nasty habit of his....). Then a few minutes later the scratching started again, and this time he heard it too. At this point we switched on all the lights in the bedroom. Things got worse though as we then both heard breathing and then a big sigh.
Upshot = the then toddler was also fetched and tucked up in bed with us and not much sleep was had by the grown ups that night. The following morning Mr NDB sheepishly suggested that we "might have brought one of them back" from the funeral.
Fast forward a week, and I am planting bulbs in the front garden, when the neighbour's son from over the road comes over to let me know that his dad had died the night we had all the noises. Turns out he had collapsed in the bathroom around the time we had had the disturbances and not been found until the morning.
Now I am a sceptic and we have tried to find rational explanations for what happened, but still have not come up with anything. That is only one of the things that has happened since meeting my husband - I think he is a ghost magnet.
