Tech guys

Hello all you computer geniuses ... i need help...using a netgear router connects to xbox no problem but as for sons laptop finds router with excellent strength but connection to internet limited little yellow triangle. Was working fine till 2 weeks ago nothing at all changed so is my router cream crackered? and any suggestions on what kind to buy . Cheers Steve

This usually means that the router isn't dishing out an IP address to the laptop. Or that the password is wrong or the details have changed since the last time he successfully connected to the router. The router is most definitely not knackered. Which version of Windows is on the laptop?

May be a silly question, have you tried switching it off and on. My wife has a Vista laptop which regularly loses its connection to my router, I usually switch it off and on again which cures the problem for her. I think the problem that you have with wireless is that it is on the same frequency as just about everything in your house, in my case my Digital cordless phone, microwave, digital sender for sky tv.... just about everything is on that frequency, I know you can set it to use a different channel but that doesnt make a huge difference in my opinion. I recon the signal starts to drop off over a period of time for some reason but then i live in an old house so it could just be interference.

 playalistic set me on the right track i had typed the network security key on the laptop so thanks guys for your help, only took me two weeks to sorts it >Steve
