:oops: Good point Bing! From looking at news report link, looks like it was a semi-detached house and I just had images of her blowing up 2 houses, innocent occupants, could have been so much nastier. Silly silly lady, I just hope it serves as a lesson to others out there!

Waitrose Newark - all pumps working and no customers.

I'm sorry but the government didn't cause this panic. It was the pathetic, sheep-like morons who aren't capable of using the one brain cell they have and reading a newspaper or switching on the TV and working out that a) there was no strike actually called and b) it would take at least 7 days to take effect and c) that the army would've delivered supplies anyway.

As I said earlier - people always want to blame something on someone else and should be responsible for their own actions ffs. :headbang:

I despair sometimes, I really do. No wonder we are in a recession if this is the initiative a large proportion of the population display.
 
PANIC over the tanker drivers are going on strike after the Easter break according to the news earlier :thumbsup:

Popped into my local Shell garage earlier to fill the works van up and not a drop of Diesel to be had,next garage £1.50 a Ltr so didn't bother then tried tesco five deep at each pump got better things to do than que for a bit of fuel.

The only winners out of this is the goverment how many millions extra have they received in fuel duty :thumbsdown:

B*ll*x sorry I have seen the proof check out youtube and it is validated by the HSE, I work in the industry and seen a tanker explode as part of safety training and the guy didn't get out alive

Maybe the leader of the union should be held accountable and charged with GBH.If this doesn't work,she could possibly get Injury Lawyer 4 You to take out a civil action.This is not the country i grew up in and every year i feel more inclined to leave it.
 
It's not the government, it's not the people, it's not even the media. The cause of this situation is UNITE and the drivers that voted to strike.
 
Being responsible is not the same as sueing someone for it. To me it is irresponsible to make comments that you know that Mr & Mr under avarage intelligence will panic about and willfully cause issues.

If you are in a position to cause chaos by your actions or words, you are responsible for what happens after that.

If these type of people were able to make all appropriate decisions by themselves, we would not need any laws.
 
Apparently the government have gleaned £32 million quid in tax from the current 'panic' for all you conspiracy theorists out there. Does make you think.

Sorry - that is static electricity, not the use of a mobile. We were talking about using mobiles because of signal and transmission. He is lighting the mass of fumes with static there and there is no such thing when normal drivers are using a mobile.

If you look at the links I provided, there is not a single incident or proof that there is an issue with using mobile phones in forecourts.

That explains why in UK petrol stations you can't do as you can in other countries and 'click' the little lever in to keep the petrol flowing without holding it I guess ?
 
Did'nt the media just love getting hold of this story about the crazy women getting burned decanting petrol next to a lighted hob, everyone has decided there must be a link between this and the threat of strike by the tanker drivers, i wonder how many people everyday get burned by mishandling petrol eg, lawnmowers, barbies etc, how many garages, sheds have gerry cans of petrol stored in them or in all sorts of unsuitable containers yet we never get to hear about them, this is manipulation by the media who have to have a sensational story to tell.
I feel very sorry for the lady but these sort of accidents happen every day and never make the news.
As far as the tanker drivers are concerned, as someone else has already said the job comes with a 45k salary, you cant blame them for taking it, ok so you dont need a degree to be a HGV driver but surely salaries should'nt be linked with academic achievement for every profession.
A lot of the major unions power base has gone now that we have lost most of the heavy industries, to me this is as much to do with the unions using the tanker drivers to throw there weight about as the concerns of the drivers, the tories have made a cock-up as usual on dealing with it and the media have got themselves a big story,
its no wonder people like George Gallaway walked away with the Bradford election.

They haven't got any extra revenue from this, they've just pulled it in a bit. Apart from all the fuel burned in the queues... They've also burned a lot of what little respect/goodwill people might have had for them.
