I'm replacing all the rear bulbs on my 2016 - 2 reverse and four brake lights. 5 of the 6 bulb holders pull straight out of the housings, but the left-hand reverse bulb holder is attached by a very short green wire. I can barely remove the holder far enough to remove the bulb - it's a real struggle.
I had the brilliant idea of replacing all six bulbs with error-free LEDs, but the LED bulb is almost twice as long as the original W16W. There's NO WAY to get that LED into the housing. Why would BMW design the bulb holder this way?? It makes no sense why this one holder is hard-wired, so to speak, to the housing.
Am I missing something??
Hell, I was missing something. The offending bulb holder was stuck in it's housing, and pulled the contact ring off with it. Until I carefully compared both sides, I didn't realize the contact ring was coming away with the bulb holder. I knew all six holders HAD to be of the same design.
If I could delete this thread I would.........
