Just thought I'd share my experience of finding water in the boot of my E86 and condensation in my tail lamps.
Originally I thought it was a combination of both tail lamp seals and boot vent seals perishing. However, it turns out that there is a crack in both taillamp housings behind where the top mounting nut secures onto. Despite the nuts not being overly tight. See image.
Hope this helps someone as another place to check. As if this happens the water trickles down directly onto the wiring connectors and will start to corrode.
Update: It has been a week since I sealed the hole so no water can collect in the recess anymore and all is good.
