T-Cut is it as good as I remember?

I've always wanted to try a powered polisher, but been too scared of damaging the paintwork by being a bit 'ham fisted'.

I do like a clean car (almost obsessively) but have always done it the hard way with old fashioned products like t-cut, cheap polish and canuba wax. I'm getting old and less able, so some powered help would be useful.

But the sheer amount of cleaning products these days is overwhelming; I wouldn't know where to start!

If you havent used Gyeon Wet Coat, it will be game changing for you.

It’s an incredible product. It’s on the pricier side, but worth it.

You can get 10% off here. Get the big one.

For anyone over 40 years old, unless you are a gym goer, just be aware that machine polishing a car is absolutely knackering.

Even a quick squiz all round might take 2 or 3 hours - if you are more obsessed could easily be all day. The machines are not the lightest, and they need to be controlled as they do their thing.

A good bet is to split the job up into sections, and do a bit / take a break / do a bit more - maybe even split it up over a few days.

Last time I did it (2 months ago) - just the bonnet took over an hour & then I had 'shaky arm' for the rest of the day & couldn't hold a cup of tea.

So to make your life easier, you have bought a land yacht with twice as much bodywork as a normal car?;)

Get an ebay DA polisher with orange pads, merguirs 105 to start Three small tabs on the pad then merguirs 205 to finish. Fusso to finish.

What would you recommend out of interest?
This is a good entry level DA polisher and I currently use one of these

VonHaus

I've had lots of more expensive DA polishers in the past and for a non-pro detailer the Von Haus does the trick. I use this with meguiars ultimate compound and it works well on hard BMW paint. Don't forget to do a good decontamination phase first though - you want all the crap off the paint surface first.

Following that you then want to seal/wax the paint - I use autoglym fast ceramic spray and the Fusso soft99 wax
