What’s an szl?

Steering wheel angle sensor…strange piece of hardware embedded in the steering wheel..if you change it / mess with it needs to be recalibrated…

Many tools are available that do that..not really a particular difficult to do task…he says..never having done it..

I must have been having a “blonde moment” as I’d previously been reading a post on a steering wheel angle sensor fault :headbang:

I can do the angle sensor its the coding of the part in i not good with

I see you've asked on the FB group as well as asking me on YouTube, some I'll repeat the same...
You only need to recalibrate it, it does not need coding to the car. As long as it's like for like, ie; without Cruise Control with a replacement that doesn't have it etc, then it will work out of the box. Trust me, I've done this loads (hundreds!!) of times. You'd only need coding if it was for a cruise control retrofit, other than that Steering Angle Sensor reset, takes longer to set the laptop up than it does to do the job.

There are only two instances where this doesn't work...
1) It's not at fault in the first place, the fault is somewhere else.
2) You was really unlucky in the replacement was also faulty.

You can do a VIN changed, but it makes no difference.
There are no differences with for the paddle shift steering wheel either, as this info is passed along the CanBus lines.
I'd always recommend to use your existing slipring, as its a known good one, unless it isn't obviously  The slipring is for the steering wheel buttons through the 6 pin plug*, whereas the stalks are connected via the 12 pin plug, so two different circuits (*12 pin plug if you have a heated steering wheel).
