Switched live question

Hi all

I have a requirement to have two items connected to a switched live in the boot.

Based on http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=38888 it seems there is only one blank switched live in the fuse box.

Each device has a 5 amp fuse in line from the positive cable from the device so I'm assuming I need a fuse holder with 5amp blade if I was to hook up to the spare slot to keep the fuse close to power as the in line is closer to the device.

My next assumption is that if there is only on free switched live, I'd need to wire both devices to one fuse.
Will I then need a 10amp fuse?

My final option is to just wire to the battery with some sort of cutoff but I'd rather I didn't have to flick a switch each time I get in.

Hopefully this makes sense to someone.

Please keep comments relevant. And information of the end result will be put in a separate thread.

Use a fuse piggyback adapter. Both circuits are fused independantly. I wired my Reinhold one touch module using one of these in the cig lighter fuse.

Do you mean the one that has two slots?

Use one slot for a fuse and the other for the second adapter?

One of these

THe existing fuse circuit stays intact, you just insert that fuse into the holder. The new circuit is then fused by the additional fuse in the holder.

No wait I think I get it.

Use the blank for one and then a piggy back for one that's being used

Take the cig lighter fuse as an example.

1. remove existing fuse from fuseboard.
2. Insert said fuse into slot nearest tabs on holder.
3. Insert fuse for new circuit in other slot nearest wire for new circuit.
4. insert holder into cig lighter fuse slot in main fuseboard.

easy peasy

These are superb and simple

Isn't the Cigarette lighter a permanent live?

It is in my car... I would prefer it to be switched!

Sorry might be right as it was for a reinhold module. probably thinking of my E87 where I have tapped into the cig lighter for my dash cam which is switched.
