Swapped my z4 in, check out my new motor

Mines gone in for rust repair in the boot It's bloody horrible! Drives really nice though, it's a 218d gran tourer. The engines quite nippy when the turbo kicks in and the interior is really swanky but f**k me it's ugly on the outside  the back and side profile isn't too bad (for a people carrier) but the front is vile!

I think they're front wheel drive too! What's that about, when I originally heard about the tourer I was excited at the idea of a RWD bus but no. They didn't make it that way!

It's BMW's attempt at a Peugeot. I had one as a loaner, I thought it was pretty dismal, joyless thing.

Well I can tell you it doesn't drive anything like a Mini.... :x

I've driven worse though to be honest, much much worse.

It's solidly made, I think it would be nicer to drive if it had the auto box. But it's nicer to drive than peugeots, fords etc that I have driven

I was convinced that was a Ford something-max until I read the comments and realised it was a beemer... What the actual f**k were they thinking letting that thing out in public I'm disappointed and embarrassed on behalf of all bavaria

I'm actually in a hire car at the moment it's a 1.4l audi a4 automatic also embarrassing not because of the looks (it's an sline so looks basically like an s3) no the reason I'm embarrassed is because I actually quite like it :?

+1 The 3 pot 1.5 is pretty punchy and suits the tight chasis in the mini, but can't see it helping that mummy-van thing which hopefully doesn't roll as badly as the Vauxhall equivilant.

We had one of those last year for the day, couldnt wait to take it back.
Does yours have a lot of road noise coming from the front wheels?
The one we had sounded horrible and we only found out later it was FWD

Sadly it was a roly poly thing with predictable FWD understeer, cheap plastics, just felt like a me-too eurobox do-all-adequately car. Hence my "BMW's attempt at a Peugeot".

The joy of ownership seemed lost. You'd never look back at it in as you walked away in a car park.

I've not noticed too much road noise ( I'm useto the z4 so it's actually quite peaceful)
It's definately front wheel drive, I put my foot down and the wheels bounced like f**k!
I'm guessing this one is a 2.0 engine but it bloody shifts I think.
It's the nicest mpv I have ever been in to be honest

Just needs some mini cab plates and you could pay for the boot to be fixed in an evening. You would have to let other people see you driving it though.

I currently have a loan car - an auto 316i Touring on an 04 plate with 133k on the clock?

Plus point: it's quieter than I thought it would be.

Minus points: everything else.

For measuring 0-60 you'd need a calendar! Very much looking to getting the Zed back tomorrow. :)
