Swapped Halogen for Xtreme - WOW

Nice day today - finally cleared my condensation - back off, hairdryer on, vacuum cleaner sucking out the old moist air via full beam hole
Swapped main beam halogen H7s for Philips Xtreme H7s
Put on new backs to lights, closed inspection hatch and went for a drive in the dark
The Xtreme packaging claims 80% improvement - for me it was 100% improvement over previous normal halogens

Apparently the bulbs degrade over time (but that could be marketing!), so I could well imagine an early car would see that difference! I saw an improvement on my 53 plate, I don't think I saw 80%, but yeah, a great upgrade IMO. Although, for a week with the lights set too high I still didn't get flashed!

Glad you're rid of the condensation too :thumbsup:

This is why manufacturers advise car owners to change halogen bulbs every 2 years.
 
It's true - they do dim. In simple language the tungsten filament over time vapourises, becomes smoke and condenses on the glass of the bulb obsuring it. While it may still light up for a considerable time before failing the amount of light emitted is reduced by the shading effect of the now darkened glass. Take a look at an old brake or indicator bulb - it will look pretty dark.

Of course xenon don't suffer the same as high voltage excites gas and there is no filament.

Anyway - glad to hear the result of the Extreme are so good :thumbsup:
 
XTREEEEEEEME!! I love the way manufactures use these ripping your shirt in anger names :D

Sound good bulbs though :)
