Swap: K&N panel filter for genuine BMW standard filter

Hi all

I've got a K&N panel filter in my car, was put in about 5k miles ago.

Looking to swap for a new (ideally) or nearly new BMW genuine air filter.

Car is a 2003 3.0i

Out of interest why are you looking for a swap aren't they supposedly better than OEM ones? Or is that just marketing vomit? I may be interested as I had my car serviced 1000 miles or so ago with a new air filter...
 
My reason for the swap is purely to have the car OEM, rather than have any aftermarket bits and bobs on. I just like my cars that way.

I get about 32mpg on my daily run around so I doubt it would drop by 6mpg with a standard filter!! Maybe your old filter was just mega dirty?

Bradmarsh1989 - pop me a pm if you're interested. I presume your air filter is a genuine BMW one?

That won't have anything to do with the K&N, as even their own marketing bull only claims a 1% improvement, so in your case about a 0.3mpg improvement.
 
I have a spare OEM, was in for about 6 months. You're welcome to it, would need to dig it out of the garage though....
