Does anyone have any experience/advice/opinions on the following?? If it was your money what would you do??

I would either go KW coilovers or get a Bilstein B12 Kit

I think i will be going for a B12 Kit next month :)
 
I dont have experiences with any of them. I had the cheap FK lowering springs on my car. I hated them but the coil overs look good quality and will be matched to work properly unlike the springs.

I have Spax rsx on my car. They are a cheap option but i have found them to work really well. I have to run them in there softer settings on road.

Been having another mooch around the inter web today and cannot believe the difference in price of the b12 kit. Ranges from £800+ to around £500 mark. Like the look of the b12 Ash, looks as though it should be OK to fit.

Actually found on a German site a set for less than the £500 but forgot to bookmark and now can't find it.....bugger.. like the look of the FK's too MM, so it could be decision time... :rofl:
 
The ST X is a KW v1 with no fancy coating on it.

Speak to Dan at DC Performance for a decent price on them.

I'll be ordering a set of ST XT for my e46 next month from them.

You can do better than FK's. :P

If you do go for Bilsteins, be careful where you buy from or you may have warranty issues, mmm-five had some fitted earlier this year and posted the following

You may not be worried and think that the savings make it worth the risk, and that's a personal decision, but it's better to know how you stand regarding warranty claims before parting with your money

That seems like a great price to be fair,

What other bit did you change when you fitted them?

How are you finding the car now?

Hi ash, not fitted them yet they arrive in four days. I know Ed doe has them fitted to his car so you could message him. He's said great things.

So far on mine (ready for the B12 kit) I have replaced front and rear drop links, front and rear anti roll bar bushes, front wishbones (entire unit's). These were all with either polly bushes or with Meyle stuff.

When the shocks and springs go in its also getting new top mounts front and rear along with rear trailing arm bushes.

Hope that helps. Most of this work is very achievable yourself if your handy with a spanner. I am only getting TWG Automotive to fit the B12 kit so that once done they can do a full alignment.

Yeah, that was the place, cheers Roundozo..You'll have to let me know how you get on with yours. :thumbsup:

Like the look of the BC Racing Coilovers. Seem to get good reviews on several other forums, for Scooby's, Lancers,Type R's etc. like the fact once you get your spring rate/sag etc set up you can adjust the ride height with the bottom adjuster without affecting the springing. Or vice versa,whichever, will have to research that bit.

Just didn't know if anyone has used them on a Zed before.
 
Just ordered a Bilstein B12 kit from NH tuning in Germany via ebay.de for my 650i saved about £300 doing it that way, next month I will get a set for the Z4 from the same place :D

BC are awesome.

Higly adjustable

You can set height without affecting preload and they come with camber plates.
The damping is great. I have mine pretty stiff and its still compliant on bumpy roads.

I considered KW but as i rarely track it and theres nothing wrong at all with them i didnt bother.

I know plenty of M3 owner with BC and even a couple who went from bilstein to BC which is what swayed me.

I Had AST for a short stint before hand too and the BC couple with h&r anti roll bars, rogue RTABS is a very good combo for street and track use.

Look for the BC BR series

I hear the KW V2 are even more comfortable even when stiff so my recommendation is BC or KW V2
Ive not got any corrosion and i drive in any weather.

All depends on your budget.
