Surrey Newbie - A few Questions

Hi all,

I'm hoping to the be the owner of a Z4 Coupe very soon, I think I've found the 'one' - just in the process of finalising a deal.

I've been running all manor of BMW's over the last 12 years, I currently have an old V8 which I'll be keeping as a daily hack.

If anyone can help I've currently got two burning questions... :lol:

1, Does the colour of the head signify any difference to the engine? Some seemed to be silver, some black? I can find info relating to lower powered versions of the N52 fitted to other BM's such as an E90 325i. Any ideas?

2, I will be changing the wheels, I love the look of 19" but do they ride/handle okay on them or am I better off sticking to 18's?

Hi minter, that's only a plastic cover & makes no difference at all-nobody seems to know why it was changed?
I think it's generally accepted that the ride/handling is better on 18's due to higher profile tyres/lighter weight.

The colour of the engine head signifies nothing - they seem random. As for 18" wheels as long as they're not on runflat tyres they should be fine - 19" look good though

(Edit: Smartbear's post crossed with mine - but we are saying the same anyway.)

18's better ride and handling. 19's some prefer the full arch looks. You pays your Money and makes your choice, Simples.

Having stated the obvious once the tyres also make a significant difference on a Z4. :wink:

Looks like your questions have already been answered OP!

Hope you can do a deal - then I can beat Taz to the "welcome to the exclusive Coupe club"!

And anyway I am only in Berkshire, so it is good to think there is another Coupe owner in the vicinity - keep us posted!

I agree with the above. Personally I wouldn't put 19 inch wheels on. From what I have read I don't think that the trade-off between looks and ride quality is worth it.
