Surfboard

Picking my new Z up on the 28th. I'm a keen surfer and was wondering if anyone has even managed to fit their board in their Z. I ride a 6'1 shortboard.

Ummmmm.... With the roof down, maybe ? Or with a modified bike rack ? Sorry, I lol'd when I read this, but there must be a way to transport one :D

Saw a 1 series recently on its way back from the beach with a surfboard on the roof...literally! It was resting on the roof, held in place by bungee wire through the windows!

I nearly cried at the thought of the sand grinding at the paintwork!

But I guess in surfer dude world, its "no worries"....

It will fit in hhe passenger side roof up, but you will need to lower the roof to get it in/out though

Roof down ,= no problem.

That's good to know. I have a roof rack for my cayman which attracts some funny looks when I have my board strapped to it.

God, no, the board will not be going on top of the Z. I used to put it on top of the Porsche.

I have a bag for the board so there will be no issues with it being inside the Z. I've transported all sorts in the cayman ranging from wood for a fence, to a Labrador. The car is still mint, you just have to be careful.

Well perhaps if I had a plain interior with the rhino like Kansas leather maybe, but with a white lamb skin interior I'm über paranoid about what goes in my car and wouldn't consider anything like a board..

I strapped mine to the roof of the e85

I use one of those eaze racks

I will find you a link

Here you are

No pics of it on tho,

But I have had the 6ft on the roof

Also they fit across the boot nicely so you can use them as a boot rack

When we went to France recently I had those across the boot with 4 body boards stacked up on them and of course top down

Ah, I have one of those soft racks, is the roof strong enough to hold a board I was worried it might suddenly pop open while driving.

I used to drive the 3 series with hardtop on with a 6ft and 9ft boards a couple of body boards a tent and a few other bits 300 miles to cornwall and that was fine lol

I've never had any issues
