Supersprint stepped headers and sports cats.

I have just taken delivery of my Supersprint stepped headers, RHD E46M3 headers, part no 044931. And sports cat part no 044902. Now my question isn't relating to if the E46M3 stepped headers for RHD will fit my Z4M. This is something I have been informed about, this even shows on the Schmiedmann website. Its regarding fitting the sports cat. I received instructions from Supersprint that when fitting the sports cat, you should reverse the fitment of the cat 02 sensors. This is point no 3 in below image. From what I can tell its meaning fit sensor A into pipe B and vise Vera. I've attached a copy of the instructions here. Does anyone have any technical knowledge as to why you would do this? I'm assuming to keep emissions light off with some kind of trick. Hopefully someone can enlighten me as to why you would want to do this.

TIA
Chris

That is for US cars as the headers exit are flipped. If you have a Euro car is should be the same, but check how they will fit and compare to your car

UPDATE
I emailed Superspint, just disregard those instructions they have said. So just swap straight over to new exhaust.

This did have me wondering why you would do this. Turns out, you don't.

Cheers
Chris

I had heard on a forum, for the life of me I cannot find this again when looking, that these fit on Z4M's as long as you go with the oversize Supersprint exhaust, I believe this is the 63.5mm version.

When looking at the supersprint page this manifold is for an e36 with S54 conversion. These should be a straight fit without mods. When the car returns from the BMW specialist I will try fitting these and let you know how this goes.

It fits the z4m rhd on the schmiedmann website. Time will tell or an expensive mistake, haha

Flipped or not flipped, it does not matter which bank you put the post-cat sensors in. They only measure cat efficiency.

It's the Pre-cat sensors that must go in the correct bank.

I always thought the issue with these was getting the headers to fit round the steering column so will be very interesting to see if they fit . Hopefully they do

Any update on the headers?

Car is still with M3 Motor co just now, I should get it back either end of this week or beginning of next week. I will be doing the header myself. The car needed a new ECU, long story. They are on back order with BMW but managed to get one and its been fitted along with a new oil temp sensor. Cars also had full service, all fluids changed and valve adjustment. Good news, BMW are now giving £500 surcharge on the ECU's, so good luck to them with the old one. haha. Once car is back I will be fitting the headers and will add photos here. So hopefully this goes well.
