My supersprint exhaust finally arrived. :D

Being on sale, it was a steal at $850 for the race exhaust and connecting pipe (normally about $1600). So I couldn't pass it up. Initally wasn't a huge fan of the single large tip but now that I see it in person...I love it! Hoping to do the install with pics and sound clips (before and after) this weekend. Will post when I have them.

got a link to the vendor you purchased from?

Directly from http://www.supersprintna.com/ They added sold me the exhaust at the price listed and the connecting pipe for $275. $862.31 shipped. http://www.supersprintna.com/category-exec/category_id/140

Keep in mind that the Sport exhaust in the U.S. is the same as the race exhaust in Europe. If you go to the european site, you can verify this with the part number.

i just noticed however that the part numbers are the same for your 03 2.5i and my 07 3.0si. makes me wonder how good the fitment is? i know our 2 stock exhausts are not the same so im wondering if this is a cut to fit job.

Yes it is cut to fit...I haven't looked under the car yet, but they told me I'll have to cut the 2 pipes and then slide connecting pipe over where I made the cut.

Ok...it's finally done! Here's my story. I put the car up on the stands and was about to cut...but getting under the car with the saw was a huge problem. Laying on your back and holding the saw really puts you at a bad angle. I couldn't hold the saw straight to safely and confidently make the cut. (See 1stKnight's here for how you should be standing to make the cut http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3537) So I wimped out.

I took the car off the stands, and ran down to the local muffler shop. 100 bucks and 1 hour later, it was installed. My plan with my zed was to do this stuff myself, but I wasn't willing to risk making a bad cut, or worse yet, slipping and hurting the car or myself.

So here's my exhaust recommendation, if you can't get the car over your head to where you can stand and you need to cut off the old exhaust, take it to a muffler shop and save yourself the hassle.

BTW, the sound is amazing! Pics to come shortly!

No idea why these won't embed. I clicked the youtube button and put the text in the "embed" dialogue box from youtube inbetween...but no embedding

mattholecko - slight thread hijack here, but could you give us a little but of a description of that trailer hitch receiver that's visible in the exhaust video? I am kind of interested in the ability to sometimes be able to pull a lightweight trailer and that looks like an interesting way to go....

This will give you most of the info and some more pics of the hitch. http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1171&p=16838#p16838

Please feel free to PM if you have any questions.

take some shots of the actual exhaust from different angles. want to see how the tip looks with the rear bumper. some complain its sits too low, etc. very interested in this. what's the butt dyno say? :D

oh yea, how's the cabin noise? one thing i can't stand about aftermarket exhausts is the droning. i used to have a neuspeed system on my previous car. it was cool at first but quickly got annoying and i paid up for a 2nd system + install just to get something quieter (but just as effective...). dont want to make the same mistake 2x!

I'll get some shots up soon...when my car gets back from the dealer. The door ajar alarm wouldn't stop today. Can't get that noise out of my head!!! :headbang: oh well...that's another posts.

As to the sound in the car, I think it's great. To be honest, I don't know what droning is  But if its the rumbly noise from under my seat, I like it! (But me thinks droning sounds like a bad term.)

If droning is that awful sound that comes from the souped up civic, it doesn't do that.

I've seen other posts about this exhaust on a z4 and they claim no droning. Regardless, I can take some sound clips from in the car and I'll try to get a drive by sound too.

Ok, here's my first attempt at getting a drive by sound. This one was actually an afterthought but turns out it's the best one. I'm going to bump up the frame rate on the next attempts.

That sounds great. Not to hijack this thread, but when I first started working on cars and pulling engines and all the rest of what goes on I was 16 years old. Here I am now at 47 surfing the internet to seek out ways to modify my Z4, troubleshoot problems, get and give advice on technical do it yourself items and to top it all off, I can now listen to someones newly installed exhaust in Arizona from my house in Florida, unbelieveable. Great job and thanks for the effort on the install info for us!
