Hi, just been browsing the z4's specifically 2.5 and 3 litre models on autotrader and is it me or do they rocket up in price as soon as summer is near? I bought my 2006 2.5 last November and paid £2995 for it but the same model now is going for £200 to £500 more!! If this is the case then surely its best to buy in the winter

Convertibles always go up in summer as demand increases, plus we are in a funny time.

Many private sales have disappeared leaving only trade sales, many of which were the over priced ones a few months back, the once priced right have sold, leaving only the over priced ones still for sale. Autotrader ads have been free for traders during lockdown, and while in lockdown why reduce prices?

Plus we have got people sat at home furloughed who have been watching car prices, seeing prices go up as private sales disappear and the properly priced dealer cars go, now wondering if prices are going to slump or get higher and higher? Buying a car right now is a proper gamble if you are worried about prices, who knows what will happen moving forward? But fine if you're buying to enjoy it.

I have no idea where my business will be in a few months, whether I will lose everything, I'm in retail so could well do, but after selling my 5 series and my wife's car and buying a cheaper E91 to put some cash in the bank, and because I can see prices on certain cars falling through the floor over the next few months, I got itchy and bought a Zed coupe last week.

My thinking is the Zed coupe is a safer place to have money than a 2015 5 series touring. It may drop a bit in the next 6 months, but think prices will bounce back again as we get to a new normal, and sub £10k cars that are fun will do OK imho.

Oh for the joys of summer and sunshine. Happens every year. I put a deposit on mine in February but didn't pick it up until, mid April, as I was waiting for a house sale to complete for the funds. The dealer hated that, but it worked out just fine from a buyers perspective.

Not so sure actually - when mine sold, in December, there were so few around with similar attributes to mine (low mileage 3.0 manual) that a decent-ish price was achieved, I would wager more than if I had waited for the summer. Odd experience actually - it was advertised for a good 6 weeks, then in one week I had 3 competing offers - 2 of which were happy to complete over the phone, sight unseen.

Even Coupe prices seem to have increased since I sold mine in February judging by what I'm seeing now.

But then just after Christmas is never a good time to be selling cars, and I needed it to go!
