Strange, i lower roof and find small cable tie on rear deck. Where from i wonder :?

So got home, close roof, stops, roof movement impaired
Code reader...A68D Microswitch roof shell 2 closed right.

So either the heat affecting switch or broken wire again.
I wonder if the cable has been tugged for some reason and why there was a loose cable tie on rear deck.

Good job i did the boot mod to open boot to dump hydraulic pressure.

If it's stuck in a position where you can short pin 7 and 10 on the CTM connector, you can use the buttons to get the roof into position. Otherwise you will have to do it the hard way.

If you do have to do it the hard way, some short videos would be appreciated. A few people have said they had to release latches and screws and such, in addition to releasing hydraulic pressure to get roof shell 1 and 2 to move. However, I never recalled RobbiZ4 mentioning anything but releasing hydraulic pressure. So, if you get that far a few short video clips would be appreciated.

Mod i have done i can unlatch the boot in any position the roof is in. A mod i did few years ago now.
Has come in useful a few times.

I put switch where the boot release button was missing. Can open boot anytime with roof any position.

Next dump pressure via brass screws.
After a while the rear window can be lifted up and stick card board box under it.
Next remove the cabin roof liner. Pull the rubber first from top door frame, to slide hand in to detach from fixing studs.

Costed out new switch in case i need to order, about £30 LLR parts.
But i feel it might just be a wire strained somewhere.
Of course the windows are all stuck down, so car covered at work.

Nice little Monday day off job.

Check this post. Bottom of page one. Describes how the shop got the roof panels into service position.

All fixed.
Brown wire broken through, brown and green wire insulation split in two places.

I had replaced these two wires from boot up to the last 6 inches, before it curves and twists in roof to micro switch.
So of course that is where it breaks in the old wires, in the bendy parts..
So i just chopped wires off at micro switch leaving 2 inches and spliced in new wires to my previous new wires.
Didn't bother removing old wires or connector, stuck there doing nothing now.

Never known such poor quality wires.

Check left side they seem ok.

If you want a project to make these cars reliable i would spend a day and replace all these roof wires.
Not a big job, two pairs on the right and one pair on the left.
Just cut just before Hall sensor and micro switch and replace all down to boot.

And some advice, never buy this solder, it's useless. All it's good enough for is modelers to make wires or pipes.
