Style 294 refurb - Sealant/torque question

Hi folks,

Hoping to pick the brains of someone who has refurbed a set of split rim alloys before similar to my 294's. I've seen a few refurb posts for the E85 style 108's which I'd guess are similar in design and characteristics.

3 questions.

1) Anyone know what rough torgue figure the rim bolts should be tightened too? (I see various opinions on the 108's or BBS rims in general of between 20 and 30 ft/lbs (on dissassembly, the rear wheels were fairly tight as I would expect, the fronts were *really* bloody tight - not sure how much of that was breaking the threadlock though)

2) The chap who is refurbing the pieces suggested some kind of sealant between the outer face and the main rim would be a good idea. The 2 108 refurb threads I've read didn't bother with this step - is this to stop potential corrosion between the 2 pieces? (I see lots of mentions about using sealant on split rims, but only when them being airtight is a factor which given the design of the 108/294 wheels isn't relevant).

3) General alloy question - given a nice freshly refurbed set of alloys, are there any steps I should take prior to fitting to the car (waxing?) and as part of ongoing upkeep?

Any help appreciated - including anything that may trip me up come assembly bolt-tightening time in general that I haven't thought of.

Not sure about the other bits but once they are done I would coat them with something like Gyeon Rim or similar to protect them from the elements and to make cleaning afterwards a lot easier. Might be an idea to coat them before bolting the two pieces back to together.
