Hi all,

I’m after a set of style 224’s in either factory silver or grey.. or if their another colour and cheap enough to warrant me refurbing..
if you’ve got anything, let me know!

Thanks

Thank you, but yes I’ve seen these. Unfortunately their black and the price for refurbing would make them pretty expensive! Fairly priced wheels though

These just popped up on ebay, nothing to do with me look good but massively overpriced

Thank you, I saw these a couple of days ago, I'm sure at that price I’ll probably see them still there in a few weeks! If the tyres were brand new then they would almost be near the price

Are these alloys not £2200-£2400 brand new these days?

What are you expecting to pay for a mint condition used set?

I would expect to pay anywhere between £6-800 for a set of 224’s in good condition with half decent tyres of varying tread depths.
As a comparison to the above eBay advert, I can buy a set of soiled 224’s for around £3-350, refurb for around £320, then fit a full set of brand new pilots and be at that price. Minus the price of a new set of pilots, add the price of a set of part worn pilots, and that’s where his price point should be.. probably around the 1k mark.
I can’t imagine anyone can successfully sell second hand 224’s that have been refurbed (to what quality?) in a non factory colour, with second hand tyres for £1400.

These are sought after alloys.

If you can get them for £300 ISH and refurb for £75 a corner to a good standard then I wouldn't waste my time looking for some and just go and do that. Waiting several months to save £100 isn't going to be worth the effort, time and hassle.

These alloys typically were £1600+ when new and are now £2400 new or thereabouts.

Also a lot of people don't want the hassle of buying alloys and then having to refurb them. That's why there's guys on here and on Facebook that do exactly what you are suggesting. Buy destroyed alloys, refurb them and then sell them on and make money from it.

You cannot then use that as your gauge for pricing alloys that are mint.

Therefore I'd say he's at best £200 over the going rate which isn't a lot tbh in the current market and given these are sought after.

If you can get them for £700 then I don't know what your are waiting for tbh. Nobody is going to give them away for much less unless you are lucky and could be waiting for a long time also.

If it were a less sought after alloys then you would be in a better position to bargain.

Your missing my point.. I am waiting for a set to pop up that are silver or grey, with half decent tyres that I will be happy with spending between 6-800 possibly 900 on depending on what tyres and the condition. This is easily obtainable, these pop up relatively often considering how many m’s are about and I am in no rush whatsoever.. it’s a set of wheels, not a heart transplant. I am in a position where I have money and time and I am happy to wait for the right wheels to pop up at the right price?
One thing I always struggle to understand on forums is why people feel the need to tell someone that they are making a wrong choice with something, not to help them, but just because they want to say that their wrong… I am after some car wheels, I have put a wanted advert up for the interest of anyone selling some. What’s the issue? I think the £1400 ones on eBay are overpriced, 90% of people on here would agree, you even agree! However you still feel as though you need to tell me that my decision is wrong. I’m not after being in a position to bargain, hence why I haven’t made a low balled offer and said to him that their overpriced…. I’m not going round everyone’s sale ads and lowballing or making stupid offers… I have simply looked past them, what’s the problem with that? I really struggle to understand why you are wanting to start a debate over the price of a used set of wheels that have no set value? Are they your wheels?? I can’t think why else you would be so concerned about what I want and what their selling?
