Strut tower nuts, caps & torque?

Does anyone know the part number for replacement nuts (3 per side) used on the strut towers? I am planning on installing a strut brace, and have read that the nuts should not be re-used.
Is the correct PN 51 717 895 241? I am also looking for the caps that cover these (51 717 896 829?).
I have also read conflicting info on the torque value used for these nuts, upon re-tightening. 18ftlbs? 25 ftlbs?
Looking to install the Racing Dynamics strut brace....

Thanks.

The part numbers you quote are for a 3 series. The Zed part number for the locking hex nuts is 31316769731 The 3 series paart number and the Zed part number show the same size nut (M8-8) so I would suggest the 3 series cap part number you quote should fit the Zed part!. Use the below link to search for part numbers etc:

Torque setting is listed as 35 Nm > 28 ft-lb. Was fitting mine yesterday, OEM, the torque wrench failed to work and I took one of the bolts off. Not happy - it looks like a real PITA to replace the plate underneath! Don't let that put you off - crappy tools were my issue. Lesson learnt the hard way

Looking at the part on RealOEM it looks to be correct - the nut is longer than the existing one and fits into the strut brace - although that came up as a part number for an M3. If you PM me your email address I'll forward the instructions for the OEM brace, it will make more sense. Really the nuts should be supplied with the brace - in case the locating holes are a different size. The standard nuts on the car already, that you will remove, are a different shape entirely. For the OEM brace at least.

Am waiting for an email today with the parts I need for mine - the nuts are on the list, will check the PNs for you. Although, not sure if the are localised.

I'd make sure that they fit first before ordering, the BMW nuts are machined to fit the OEM stut brace left and right mounts just as Pawnsacrifice says. Torque settings are 35nm per nut.

I used 25 ft lbs for my brace. If you're installing OEM, the nuts are different than the locking ones already on there. I used the original nuts to fit the cross piece to the tower ends (mine was a used brace). Depending on the engine you have, the brace may go right over the oil filler cap (N52 engine)

sbtwister, have been speaking to a Joe at Soper BMW Parts in the UK (who was dealing with a bunch of Z4 requests this morning  ) and he confirmed the part number for the nuts as 51717895241... £6.50 each! As mentioned, I wouldn't assume these would work with a Racing Dynamics strut brace and either contact RD directly or wait until it's in your hands before buying.
