Strut brace

Would any of you lovely lucky ///M owners want to help me out? I would like to try one of my braces on one of your lovely cars? If your in the Oxford area any time this week and can help me out I would be in your debt.

I can't do this week MM as it is going in for warranty work ... Already! But next week if that would help?

It's a bit of a trek for me but not insurmountable if you wanted to meet up somewhere roughly halfway...? I'm in Basildon, Essex.

Perhaps a fallback plan if you can't get anyone else who is free.

I'm driving back north along the M40 on Thursday afternoon/evening if it's any use to you.

That is assuming I've got my car back with a new caliper of course.

I may be able to do Sunday... But won't know until the actual day or lateish Saturday.

I'm in Central London and I could meet half way if there isn't a better offer :)

WOW i didn't think anyone would be able to help THANK YOU very much guys.

Weekends are very busy for me at the moment what with work on the garage and all that. mmm-five that would be great if all goes well and i can get a parking space at work i could meet you at the oxford services? Fingers crossed for your car i have had a very similar problem. I haven't had time to fix it i have done a few short journeys and no problem?? But i had the exact same symptoms as you described.

Tom if it dose not work out with mmm that would be really helpfully. I will be in touch if needed and i am sorry the new baby has had to go back!!

Thanks again everyone

No front but if you came to me we could have a measure up for the rear one???

My car is off the road at the moment. There is a (slim) chance it will be ready on Monday in which case I could run up to you that day, assuming you haven't sorted it by then.

I think the fuel rail might be in the way so i need to mark it up and possibly machine a section out?

I shouldn't have to actually undo or even fit it to a car. Just offer it up and have a look.

I would be surprised, same bar for both ///M's and non

Trying to think of a way to measure the height. Only fitted two weeks ago. If I had of only known then :headbang:

Only thing I can think is a spirit level from the bonnest switch over the brace and measure the gap to the plastic cover at the front and then minus the thickness of the bar.

Here's mine

Well they are the same body shell so it should line up. It's the fuel rail I think it is that's in the way. I sold one to a member with an ///M once he said it didn't fit because of the rail. But it was close so I might just need to machine a bit away. They guy didn't send it back as he said he wanted it for garage art 8)

MM, are you still in need of someone with an ///M?

I could pop across sometime if needed, I'm only 30mins down the road.
