Stratstone Chesterfield annoyance

So my car was booked in for two days today to investigate a sticking clutch that the dealer themselves mentioned whilst the car was being MOT'd last month.

As it happens in between making the booking and taking the car in, I've had a couple of other little niggles that needed looking at - an occasional lumpy idle, an exhaust emission light (which may well be related) and a possible worn wheel bearing.

I turn up at the dealer and they tell me the clutch won't be covered under my warranty (insured warranty on a Z4MC). I say "but you wanted me to book it in for a warranty investigation". To which they reply " no sir, clutches aren't covered on the insured warranty" and he disappears into the back for 5 minutes to presumably check with his boss. So it's a good job I had the other things needing attending to otherwise it would've been a completely wasted trip.

It turns out the wire for one of my O2 sensors has burnt through which has thrown the emissions light so the warranty has probably saved me £400 there. The wheel bearing I am waiting to hear about but they will probably try to wriggle out of that one too I suppose.

I have a nice white 318d M-sport for the next couple of days with all of the toys on it. Nice car - handles beautifully, really nice chassis but the interior is a bit average and these screens they use now that look like they've just been stuck on the top of the dashboard I'm not a fan of - I much prefer my retractable one. Oh and it's dirty diseasal too unfortunately.

Funny that, our 3.0si 35,000 miles developed a lumpy tick over this week. Computer IT type fix - turned it off, left for a minute and then back on and it was fixed! I suspect the problem might return..... :|

Knights Stafford dealership used by me for about 6 years - 3 series M-Sport estate (2), Cooper S and Z4 - they are very good if you don't mind travelling a bit? :driving:

I'm with you on those stick-on screens. They look like an afterthought, and will no doubt collect crap down the crack (so to speak!).
