Strange noise after filling with Tesco 99.

Hi .

I've been using standard fuel since I got the car a few months back , occasionally using vpower .

Tonight I filled it to the brim with tesco 99.

The car has developed a constant "whine" when idleing . It sounds as though its comming from over my right shoulder (fuel cap area).

It seems to be getting slightly louder in the last few hours.

Quick googles suggests fuel pump or cracked air pipe.

The sounds seems to disappear when accelerating but this could be engine noise drowning it out .

Still under warrenty , but thought Id post incase anyone has similar issues ?

Fuel pump - mine does it when brim full, especially on hot days.
Or your girlfriend, perhaps... Although I find the whining from the latter usually gets louder with acceleration. :D
 
Dunno! Mine hasn't died or burst into flames in over two years, but that doesn't mean it won't one day! Of course, your noise may not be the same as mine...
If your worried about it, since you have a warranty, you may as well ask BMW to have a listen. If you can let me know what they say that would be good too :roll:
