Storing a car and insurance questions.

So I’m toying with the idea of storing my car and getting a run around for the daily driving.

As I don’t have anywhere to store it at my house I’ve been looking into renting a garage. The car would still be in use at weekends/sunny days, but could be up 20 minutes drive from house.

I’ve just tried ringing my insurer Admiral but they were unable to quote me on the garage I’d been looking at (1 of a self contained row of 5) because I was unable to give a house or flat number for it. Now I’m not sure if it was me not explaining it properly or the advisor not really understanding what I was trying to do, but as the garage does not belong to any house or flat I could only give them the postcode and street name the garage was located on, and this wasn’t good enough.

So does anyone have some experience here with my issue and has been successful with doing so with Admiral?

Thanks.

That does seem odd, you would have thought the postcode would have been enough.

To be fair, for your (potential) circumstances, I think ringing a specialist broker would be a good idea. The likes of Adrian Flux, A-Plan (Thatcham branch), etc. Chris Knott advertise on here, might also be worth a go.

You have a high value, desirable car, which is going to be stored away from where you live. You want to know you're covered correctly.

Be sure to point out it's a Coupe, not just your run-of-the-mill Roadster... bound to get a discount

LV seem to be happy enough with a postcode - mine is stored 20 min away & they’re quite happy with this arrangement

Thanks
