Storage box lid removal

Is there a simple way to remove the storage box lid on the dash?

I don't want to to remove the whole box, just the cover.

I believe there is a part for this.

There was an obscure option where instead of idrive there could be a tom tom unit fitted. That had a part with no lid to fit the tomtom device. Some google imagery hunting and realoem searches should lead you to the part number.

Good hunting!

There is no easy way due to access.
There is a hinge pin each side (one side shown in attachment), but getting to it, without removing the whole unit, will be tricky at best.

I think the hammer idea, above, is to hit it with said hammer, possibly a little destructive depending on the finished result you are trying to achieve.

Thanks Dave.

I have of course looked through your videos but was wondering if there was perhaps a less complicated way of removing that cover.

Something for numpties like, "insert pry tool here, push outwards to release".

When I start to remove trim there is always a high chance that I will mess it up the first time.
And the interior of this car spotless at the moment.

My other option is to just use 3M tape and later on rely on sticky stuff remover.

What are you trying to attach?

As for later removal, I once bought a car that had had something stuck to the dash, but had been removed and they'd left it to dry out. It was hard but not sticky. To remove it someone suggested nail polish remover, I tried it and it worked perfectly

Sorry, I forgot to say...
No there is no other way to remove it, you need to rove the air vents to gain access to the front 2 screws.
