Stone Chips

Hi All,

With the aid of a machine polisher and some SRP, my motor is starting to look pretty decent. What's letting it down now though is the shocking state of the bumper, and the number of stone chips on the bonnet.

Does anyone have any advice on how they have treated the stone chips on their Zed? (I know there's a few different methods)

I may respray the front bumper at some point, but for now it'll have to do! And i wont be respraying the bonnet anytime soon, and this is where there's also plenty of chips!

Thanks for your time!

Try this link for some tips....... Good luck.

If you don't want to wet-and-dry the blobs (though it sounds like you know what you are doing) then you could use Langka Blob Eliminator (google it - comes up first time). You take the same approach to filling the chips, though I have heard a cocktail stick is better than a brush, and then leave to dry for an hour or so. Before the paint has actually cured you use the Langka stuff to gently remove the fresh paint - it doesn't mark the untouched-up paintwork at all, just the fresh stuff.

I used it on a few chips when I first got the car, and it worked a treat. I'll be doing all my stone chips in a few weeks when I have the time to spend cleaning properly without worrying about having to drive it for a few days.

Langka blob. Looks good............. never heard of it before wonder what it is? Some sort of solvent :?
Its pricey as well. :o but it looks the business

No idea what it is - if i remember i will check next time I am in the garage. You don't need much at all - worth the money, and you get two bottles. All you need to add is a soft cotton cloth like an old hanky. Don't try to use it on old touch ups that you did he's ago or the previous owner did - the paint is too hard, it doesn't work, and eventually you will mark the clear coat if you persist. I can tell you this from experience

Of course if you have the ability, kit and confidence to do it the way shown on the link above then save some money

Found a UK site, Frost that stock it just under £18 ............thats pretty ok :)

£6.25 to post though which is a bloody rip off.

Probably to cover the costs they incur shipping it in from the US... Still doesn't make it right, but it's less than buying direct like I did.

Looks like the same place on Ebay £20.87 so postage abour 50% cheaper might invest and give it a go

Thanks chaps, i'll have a look at the link & make a decision!
The bumper really is in a naff state so dont have anything to lose really!
