stock bluetooth with aftermarket stereo?

I am considering upgrading from my 04 2.5 to a 2006 3.0si that has bluetooth. My question is if I replace the stereo with an aftermarket stereo will I still be able to use the bluetooth?

Also, how is the call quality on the 06's when using bluetooth?

Thanks in advance!

Dunno about the aftermarket stereo but, for me, the quality (or lack of) renders the bluetooth pretty-much useless. Incoming sound is ok but the other end can barely hear anything unless you shout - even with the car stationary.

I find the same with my 3rd party (Sony-Ericsson) bluetooth kit

No idea if an aftermarket stereo will affect it.

Biggest problem with bluetooth on BMW is compatibility. Expect it to be pot luck if you phone will pair and what level of functionaility you get. BMW produce a list but frankly it's very limited and outdated. If it's important I suggest pairing your phone while testing the car

Sound quality- some have terrible problems - others it's just fine.

I am using a Blackberry 8830 by Verizon....has anybody tried a Blackberry? I will definately try it out during the test drive. Thanks for the response!

I have 2 blackberries paired to my A5 and Z4, a pearl and a curve. Both work well and using 'push' transfer the address book.
I have a gen 12 and Gen 8 ULF module respectivly and the steering wheel buttons all work correctly as does voice control that I've not really bothered with
