Stinky Roadster

[Bumpy]

Hopefully this falls into one of those areas that we all know about but never discuss in polite company.
And no, this doesn't relate to passing wind on leather seats and the ensuing "rebound".

Taking a shortcut around the back of the local shopping mall, I think I had the misfortune of crossing an escaped riverlet from the local fish and chip grease reservoir.
Lord knows how old that grease was, but as soon as I stopped I discovered the telltale scent of rancid oil (or whatever they cook fish and chips in)..
And when the garage door was opened in the morning, that scent had definitely followed us home ...
Worse cause my Zed's a Roadster ..

So Ive flushed the wheel wells and wheels twice. And shampooed the engine compartment ..
And of course the one time you hope for a rainstorm to flush the underbody ..Well it's all sunshine for the next week or so.
I'll just have to wait for that ..

Im sure someone here has had an unsheduled introduction to a shunk or two ..
Any tips on smellin' like a rose again ?

get some oven cleaner which will break down any oils. spray it into the wheel arches and wheel components. also might be an idea to change the cabin air filter

Find a drive-in 'booth' carwash with an underbody spray - we have several here that have a strip across the entrance that sprays upward when a car crosses over. Drive over it several times if you can.

Then use the wand to give the underbody, inside wheel rims, and fender liners a dose of degreaser followed by a high pressure soap application, and rinse it off. Good luck!

I sprayed the wheel wells and rims with Simple Green ..Its an automotive cleanser over here.
Let it sit for a bit and blasted it with the hose.
Did that twice and the engine bay once.
Seems OK but am waiting for some rain to flush off what's left on the underside..
And then a visit to the car wash for the Works ..Including underside flush.

Just one of those things

My suggestion was for a 'drive-in' booth style carwash, not a drive through. The car is parked while you direct various cleaning agents and/or water to the needed area with a pressure wand. No swirly rotating brushes involved ...
