Still managed to get out. . . .

Despite the poor forecast, Cherrym and Chezsherman were keen to meet up this week, so we met at the usual Garden Centre entrance. The roads were a bit hit and miss, the sky looked heavy with snow but it was a little warmer than expected. After some discussion we headed out for our favoured café at Hexham for a bite to eat on back roads.

Managed a view of cherrym through the rear view mirror and wind deflector

Found some safe parking and had a leisurely stop and chat at the Wentworth Café before deciding to head out to the Aston Martin Works - this is an incredible set up in the North East which caters for Astons from all parts of the globe. Mike and Craig had heard of this but never visited so off we went. Spent a fabulous hour looking over their stock of modern and classic Astons as well as a collection of many other classics all in better than new condition. We may return for a tour of their workshops.

We're hoping for better weather in the weeks ahead - it's frustrating not being able to get out on our favourite passes and routes but we still had an enjoyable day. Cheers Mike, cheers Craig.

Great that you got out  Work for me today, all over south London :(

Look at all that cak and salt on the zeds, nice little clean this weekend?

Loved that Aston Martin garage was good to see the cars being well looked after and in mint condition.
When I seen you had posted about today wasn't sure what to expect....? Haha good picture choice.

Yep, we're always aware we are lucky to be able to get out mid week.

£2 at my local Tesco garage sorted the muck and salt - 5 mins of cold spray makes a good basis for a later proper clean up - that's the bodywork and the underside of the Zed. helps minimise the effects of the salt. I've been told to use cold water as hot water dissolves the salt and can drive it even deeper into the crevices of the car  £2 is good value I think (even though I've a new Karcher pressure washer at home  )

It is an impressive set up Craig and amazing that we have such a facility in the North East. Had too many photos to choose from but I'm keeping them all. . . .

Still i rise  Jesus Christ, what on earth was he thinking of when he did that?

Other than that, great pics and incredibly jealous of your midweek run out!

It was great you managed to get a drive out, I thought you might have had more lying snow if the weather man was to be believed. Great photos as usual, roll on March

was thinking the wind deflector would get a mention haha

You can retro fit the BMW mesh type, i did it on mine, needed new rear roll hoop covers, the lugs snap off when removed, a mate gave me the hoop inserts and the deflector its self from EBAY. Quite expensive, easy to fit though and IMO well worth it

 It gets worse - but we'll leave it there. . . . .

It is great to be able to meet up and get out mid week - we've got to know new mechanics and garages, shared our knowledge and contacts, advised each other over purchases, bought and sold items to and from each other, suggested and provided products and materials, I've had work done on my Zed at Mikes and we've got to know more interesting roads and routes for future hoons. It's all good!

Very envious of you being able to go out and play on a school day.

Nice pics.

It's great to be able to get out most mid weeks with Paul and mike they've became good friends and to enjoy something you have a passion for makes it even more enjoyable.

Next time you visit the Aston Garage pop into the Black Horse pub next door. They have an open fire and cracking food. Tanfield railway is worth a look also nearby.

You may have been but thought I'd mention it.

Hi John002,

Yes, I'll second that recommendation for them both.
(The Black Horse is owned by the guy who owns the Aston Works as well. . . )

If anyone does visit Tanfield railway don't wear your best clothes, you'll get ash smudges all over them - save your best shirts and jackets for another time

:driving:
