Sticky Hood Clips

Hi Everyone

Just recently noticed the clip that hooks the hood onto the top of the windscreen is becoming 'sticky' when I lower the hood, and I need to give it a gentle push to release it from its catch.

This is only happening on the passenger side, and afaik, the motor is in good working order so it's just the initial release that's being awkward.

Thinking about applying some WD40 to see if it would help, but just holding back for now to see if anyone can offer any advice.

Thanks.

I thought you were on about the bonnet. Soft top!

Give it a clean with some WD then apply something to oil it properly (normal WD40 only disperses water). They've increased their range so I'd probably go for a PTFE Lubricant of some sort. I've got some heavy duty chain lube for the bike that I tend to use on stuff like this because I've already got it.

I’d clean them with WD and then use a light grease on them. Perhaps something like grease for brake caliper slides. Are they at all corroded?

Thanks for the tips.

Yes I think I will apply some WD40 on and then some grease or lube depending what I can find.

I had a close look at the catch itself and everything seems to be fine, the hook is moving freely and no signs of rust or corrosion, so maybe just needs some tlc.

Cheers.
