That side of the voltage adapter plugs into the female connector on the mpow bt dongle. reference my photo above and it's the component that sits in the middle of that 3 component string.

The BT prep cable...is this something I need to buy? I already have the phone cradle FYI - Thanks of help.

As mentioned, the bt prep cable came pre-installed on my zed. It disappears through the back of the centre cubby, presumably splicing in to the wiring harness, taking the place of the cd-c.
So yes you would have to buy this and install somehow.

I think this final bullet point, on the page you have linked to, might be worth looking into as I think you have a DSP system...
• NOT compatible with BMW radios with 'DSP', or BMW radios by Alpine or Blaupunkt, or the BMW iDrive system.
 
On this topic, I have an iPod 30pin lead in my e85 glove box. I have then bought a lightning Apple adapter. Is it possible to get this set up to work so it also charges?
