steering wheel fun

I have been neglecting my car for a little while now.But i received a spare steering wheel the other day and decided to strip it. Cut it about a bit and then have a go at stitching it back together.
First attempt in white was awful. But practice and i am getting better. I will eventual strip it pad it and re trim it all my self.
As i got it

Whats underneath??

MM if you bradel the holes first then wrap it and stitch it. Then it will look much neater.

Also making the leather wet allows more flex and stretch so when it dries it will be much more snug.

Also twin needle sewing is better than overlapping the threads.

No you are most certainly not. Any help gratefully received thanks.

I was getting in a right state with just the one needle at the start with the white stitching. The opposite side is so much better i will unpick the white and have another using your method suggestions.

What about getting a genuine Audi wheel and cutting the 'wheel' off it and attaching to the BMW centre/spokes. This way it's the exact shape outer wheel with BMW inner.

If you do this, make me one too please!

Impressive Mat its a million times better than anything thing I could produce.

Infact I wouldn't have even tried doing this myself as I know my limitations and I would have certainly turned it into one monumental failure

I doubt an Audi conviction would work. The wheel is made out of cast aluminium witch is almost impossible to weld. The stuff in the wheel has a high Silicon content and just pops and spits. So I made little brackets and screwed it all together. Took ages with just the bottom spoke.

Ok the stitching quite honestly is poo!! and the plastic fit is awful but that's down to my non existent tailoring skills!!

I am going to see how it goes like this. Then maybe if i like it splash out and get Royal to do it properly.
