Steering Wheel Badge

I believe that if you want to replace the badge you will need to buy a new airbag. The badge is actually an alloy badge which is crimped to the airbag and theefore not replacable.
You can 1) live with it 2) buy and airbag or 3) fit a decal style badge over it or 4) fasten a small badge in place having cut out he original, but accept in the event of an airbag deployment that it may end up stuck in your face :thumbsdown:

Mate, stick a badge on top of it. I did this for my carbon look and you dont know there is a badge underneath, job done!

Lol, I didn't suggest carbon, that's my look. Let's hope you have an m rather than sticking m badges on your car....thumbs down x

Yep - that's one of the optiosn I suggested. Just hope the decal can be flexed enough to go over the contour of the centre badge, but for £5 it's worth a try.

Lol. I looked at m too but couldn't justify cost for difference in speed and 0-60 etc, will see in future though, I'm tempted. Ok tempted a lot, git lol

Great minds!
I replaced my wheel centre badge today with the carbon ones.... It's tricky to do without seriously damaging your wheel or accidentally deploying your airbag into your own face, trust me I s**t bricks prying the metallic one out...
Basically it's crimped into the steering wheel and these little metal clips have to be severed for the original to come out, if you stick a cheapo badge over the top there is a chance with time the badge wont stick to the contours of the original and look horrendous... after much prying and praying i did get the old OEM badge off and applied some foam into the gaps that you will see that now are present on the steering wheel to provide a flat surface for the new badge to go in place... I then applied some epoxy resin (very small amount) to the badge itself and gently placed it in place of the old badge... cosmetically it looks fine (pics soon) but it is not as strongly held in place as the old badge for obvious reasons, though I dont see any logcal reason how it would come out naturally... unless u decide to take a corner as + 11G...?

Without doubt it's a serious consideration. The OEM badge is this pressed alloy and fastened on with metal clamps which means that in deployment it will remain rigidly fixed to the cover.
In the event of an aftermarket badge bonded on then deployment will fire off in some fairly random direction and there has to be a risk it will embed in the divers face.
I drive mine in that knowledge :thumbsdown:
