Steering problem - not alignment

Hi folks,
got a really frustrating steering problem (04 3.0i). I had the alignment done on Monday (for the third time - all sorts of issues regarding suspension, anyway...) and on the drive home it was great. Steering wheel was central, it tracked straight and true when I took my hands off the wheel. The garage also reset the steering angle sensor as they said it was out.
Over the last couple of days though, the problems are starting again. Steering wheel is still central on straight roads, but when I take my hands off the wheel it, the steering wheel will pull to the left regardless of camber etc. This leaves me thinking it can't be the alignment because it was fine the other day. I'm thinking my steering angle sensor might be going haywire, is this possible? And how to I go about cleaning it/replacing it? I think constantly resetting it is going to become pointless because (if it is the SAS causing the issue) it's going to just unsync itself constantly.
Any help appreciated! I just want a car that drives like it should!! :headbang:

Also, what software/cable/obd reader can I buy which will read the steering angle sensor? I've got a cheap OBD scanner but this doesn't read the steering angle sensor.
