Steering lockups and stiffness

Well I quoted them PUMA #5161146 and the guy didn't deny it existed, so step one went ok... he wants the car in for two days, which means I need something to get me between home and work. Have to wait just under two weeks for a loan car :thumbsdown: I bet the weather will be bloomin cold by then. I'll go for a drive later today if it stays hot and see it's sticky, if it is I'll go straight round to the dealership and show them.
Just as I expected.
They found nothing. It's nowhere near hot enough for it to happen today. They've told me nothing that I didn't know already and deny that the PUMA number exists. They've basicly charged me £50 for the same tests they did last month as part of the Inspection 2. They've only had it the one day, when they said it would be two, which is fine apart from the fact I waited for a courtesy car since I need to get home and now I didn't actually need one.
I went around last Thursday when it was hot and the steering was sticky and I only just got the guy to reluctantly drive around their small "estate" where he couldn't notice it, despite me seeing the steering wheel didn't center fully when he was driving. It was after 5pm (by 10 minutes) and the guy just wanted to go.
Total waste of time and money.

Just had my car done this week for "sticky steering". SInce it was out of warranty, they still replaced the steering column assembly at no charge. During my warranty period, I did complain a few times about this problem (documented). Now the steering feels like it should and hope that's the end of this problem.
Picked mine up yesterday, noticed the 'sticky steering' problem while on the motorway.
My car is a 3.0 se auto with 68000 miles on, as i have purchased it through an independent dealer with warranty i shall contact him today with the information that is already on this thread and keep you informed.

I have spoken to the stealer and to BM UK - not much joy. I have to have £200 of diagnostics done before they will do anything, then book the car in for the work and if I am lucky they may make a contribution towards the parts!! The column is £1450 plus vat, so its got to be over £2k to put right. They might decide to give me £50, then I am stuck with having to pay for the entire job!!
Not going to be doing that in a million years! I have been quoted £275 for a second hand late model column, but they are out of stock at the moment! When they are available I will be doing this and fitting it myself. It will give me a chance to put foam tape between all the das parts when it goes back together so I can get rid of the bloody rattles!!
