Starting price for the M40i...

Ouch, configurator isn't working for me but id imagine you can easily push £55k with options

I think it's about right, the standard spec seems really high and they'll potentially be discounts available. Be interesting to see what the predicted residual figures look like

But the fact its over £40k to begin with means that there is a load on tax for the first five years

That may be a deal breaker for some. Although I would have been amazed if it would have been under £40K for the top model. The M was more than that 12 years ago.

Nope.. configured and still don't like. Will have to see it in the flesh!

Costs aside... one thing bugging me, as soon as you add on the 19” wheels to M Sport models, you automatically get the M Sport Plus Package (£1950) which includes Individual high-gloss Shadow Line... so you lose the chrome grill surrounds...

I just want the 19” wheels, I don’t want to change the grill at the same time... :headbang:

You can get a 2011 V10 R8 spider for the same money....utterly bonkers price for a very average looking car. Personally at that money I think it'll be a depreciation nightmare...will be £30k within 18 months.

Most important question is, does it come with cup holders as standard ?
For that much money I’d expect a bmw supplied passenger to hold my cups
Sod the drinks, I'd prefer a shapely passenger with nicely filled 'D' cups...

Indeed utterly bonkers  you would have to have total sensual removal to consider this with your own cash.
Just like the M235i & M140i it won't have genuine the ///M division pedigree or bespoke engineering so in my mind its a Msport40i .
Im not one for leasing but if you had to have one ( the Msport40i Z ) throwing £500 a month at one then handing back after 2 years actually seems like a good venture :D
