new member here; I just bought a 2007 3.0 AT, 140k miles. It's been sitting with little or no use over the last 18-24 months. Engine and trans seem strong and healthy. I've maintained and repaired my 2003 e46 and 2010 e90 over the last few years. On this e85, there's a long list of overdue repairs and routine service items.
For starters, I'm looking at the halogen headlights. The left side is much worse than the right, but both assemblies have internal wiring with damaged/cracked/missing outer wall insulation. I'm assuming this is common with the halogen housings, the left side probably had moisture infiltration as well.
My plan is to get an aftermarket 8 pin connector (male and female halves) splice new wiring to the bulb socket leads, and remake the connector.
After that, I'll look at: cooling system refresh, oil pan gasket, then resolve valvetronic codes. folding top motor, upgrade audio, center console padding restoration, replacement. etc, etc, etc.

Input or links to prior DIY postings are appreciated.

Im restoring the internal wiring and testing the lines from the car.
It looks like the lo beam gets half voltage to function as an always on daytime running light. When do the inner and mid bulbs (BAS9) "hockey stick" get energized? When does the outer (amber) bulb come on?
Build date is 8/2006, facelift LCI?
Thanks
....
Edit- i see now that the inner and middle bulbs function as running/park lights and as turn signals. I haven't discovered how to energize the outer (amber) bulb.
