starter motor fail z4mr

So parked the car up yesterday and noticed a whine from the back of the engine. Immediately went to switch off but the starter was trying to engage when i turned off the ignition. So i immediately went to the boot to disconnect the battery but that cover is on there tight. So i continued flicking the key on and off until it all went quiet.

Left the car overnight and tried to start it this morning but the starter was just spinning away and not engaging. It did bump start though and even after a drive across town it still wouldn't play. So its off to BMW in the morning on the back of an adac truck as I'm in Germany on holiday at the moment, which also means I have to pay for all the work up front and claim back on warranty on my return to UK. Quite annoying.

Guess the remus back boxes will have to go on hold for now shame as i have found some in Germany at a fantastic price.

I'll update on the fault as BMW update me.

Nightmare. Hope you get it sorted quickly and it doesn't spoil your holiday too much

It's booked in at a BMW dealer out here for a new starter, diagnosed today as starter solenoid failure.

I'm currently starting it by ignition on and shorting the solenoid out with a screw driver. :lol:

Glad it will be fixed by the weekend as im booked in a the Nurburgring.
