all, getting a lound squeeking sound from my wipers, in fact two different sounds first when the move to their highest position and a second when they move back to the starting position.

seems to happen all the time, wet or dry, only very occasionaly do they not squeek, and then only for a few wipes before they start?

any ideas? plastic on glass or squeeky wiper moter(s) ?

well is it the wiper motors or is it the actual wipers on the glass?
put the wipers on and get out of the car to see which one of the above is it....

I get this one mine. It's definately coming from the arm/assembly, yet when I got the dealer to look at it all they did was fit a new blade (and charged me for it!), and it was still there...

I put up with it so far. It only seems to do it on mine when they've been on for a while...

I get similar and it's from the wiper arm mechanism underneath the black cover below the screen. I believe it's each time it cycles past the 'dry' spot on the bushes.

I found it did this on mine,, narrowed it down to the drivers side, moved the arm out to look at it, put it back and it stopped :headbang:

I've had this on both my Z4's 04/04 and 07/07. It is the arm pivot just above the drive spindle. The pivot that lets the arm follow the screen shape. If you lift the wiper (arm) away from the screen it squeaks. The cure is to put a minute amount of oil or grease where the two metal surfaces rub against each other to cause the squeak. Too much will be blown onto the screen at high speed. It needs doing every 3-4 months or so and for a reason I can't fathom it only affects the drivers side?!

had it on mine too, and was fixed when it went in over xmas (warranty).

haven't had it since =)

sorry forgot to follow up, after a lot of digging about its the wiper arm pivot, the bit that flexes to let the wiper follow the curve of the screen. can of wd40, 5 mins, fixed.

Popped mine in last Friday afternoon when it was squeaking, technician could hear and has ordered a new wiper/motor linkage which is being fitted on Friday.

Only time will tell as they say.

Mine has this also - its going down on the "warranty" list for when i send it back in :)

I also have this problem but thanks to csmith319's help I have now sprayed WD40 on the joint in the driver's side arm and it has stopped squeeking. I can't beleive that some of the dealer's are replacing parts without even diagnosing or oiling the offending parts.

Thanks to Search and this thread my squeaking drivers side wiper has stopped squeaking. Tiny bit of WD40 under the wiper arm at the pivot.

I thought it worth resurrecting in case any one else is charged for new arms and motors!

Andi.

thanks to this page I finally got rid of the squeak too! I thought it could be the motor but after lifting the arm to wash the screen i heard the squeak. Bit of WD40 and now its gone. It seems to be caused by wear to the linkage. mine was all brown, rust like, but after i cleaned this off, added some WD it has all gone. :D
