Squeaking noise in cabin

for the last couple of weeks, my zed has decided that it wants to annoy me by making squeaky noises. now I can't tell where it's exactly coming from...it seems to be coming from the gear knob's gartier, as whenever I press down on that, the sound tends to go away.

anyone else had this issue?

(p.s. making my first mod tomorrow, replacing the aerial with a stubby)
 
I have so many squeaks in my roadster that appear, then disappear only to reappear a few days or weeks later :oops: Could be anything, though mine mainly manifest somewhere behind my left shoulder in the centre trim above the cubby, behind my right shoulder somewhere, or from the plastic trim on the headliner where it meets the top of the windscreen. I did have a squeaky rattle in the centre console that was the ashtray lifting slightly out and working loose because it's always open (blackberry charger) and pushing the lid further open than is 'natural' releases the tray for emptying. Could be that i suppose... :?

To be honest I have given up trying to locate the noises my car makes if they are 'cosmetic' because bashing trim panels and rooting around in the side of the door, or peering backwards accusingly over my shoulder whilst driving (the only time the noises happen) was becoming dangerous for other road users. Now I just put the top down, or turn up the stereo, or both - best fix I have found :thumbsup:
 
@Lucas - congrats on what will be your first mod :)

I sometimes get squeaks in the cabin when the roof is dropped. I'm guessing it's the way the roof folds, and with slight variances each time, the squeak is intermittent.

If you're on run flats, you will get more squeaks due to the bone shaker ride that run flats provide. A change to non run flats will help :thumbsup:

ah right fair enough, I guess I'll just have to pray it goes away.

going to do my mod soon, but any tips on how to get the aerial off? what's the best way?
 
well no luck getting the aerial off. if anything i've wrecked the old aerial trying to get it off. so tough. nothing happening.

You might want to soak with WD40 if it is really tight otherwise there is a chance it could shear off, which has happened to a couple of forum members.
 
yeah, and that's just happened to me! now but wd40 on it, and going to get some pliers on it and screw that bit out shortly!

what a pain in the ass mod :headbang:
