Sport seats ?

Hi All,

After much deliberation I've decided to purchase a 3.0ltr Z4, whilst looking for my perfect purchase I have to admit to being a little disappointed with the seats on most of them. I test drove a 2.5ltr the other week and it had sports seats (are these known as M Sport ?).

My question is this, If i purchase one with the standard leather seats (ideally electric), is it possible to retro fit the sports seats ?, if so how much am i looking at to purchase ?

Did they do the sports seats on cira 2003 and 2004 models as my budget doesn't stretch to the later ones ?

Comfort - I always had issues with my standard seats on very long journeys. However, I watched the BMW Megafactories a little while back and one of the test drivers said how to set the seats up - many people have them too laid back. You move the seat back or forth to get to the point where your left knee is slightly bent when fully depressing the clutch. Then adjust the back rest back or forth until your wrists are resting on the top of the steering wheel at the ten and two positions. Worked a treat - saw me all the way around the North Wales meet and then three hour drive home with no problems

You won't be the first to complain about the 'standard' seats. They are a rather wide have small bolsters that are unsupportive to slimmer people on spirited drives. The standard are comfortable on longer journeys.

M sport have always been an option since launch

Seats can easily be changed with just a couple of connections and 4 bolts and are all interchangeable. So long as you buy a model with electric seats it has the wiring loom, but if you go manual upgrading to electric takes more effort. If you want to be daring you can even fit the M style seats into the electric bases (as I did.

Sports seats have always been available are much more sough after and of course expensive. Black you'd expect say £700 ish. Red are rare and upwards from there.

Don't forget heated seats are also preferred for cold weather top down.
