sport button

It makes a considerable difference to the speed of shift changes on the SMG as well.

Almost to the point where you have sympathy for the car as it bangs itself into each gear with a thud.

Probably drops the 0-60 by 0.1 or 0.15 secs over a manual 3.0i I would guess.

The steering is meant to be heavier with the sports button pressed, not lighter.

Never drive mine without the button pressed, more noticeable when moving at a pace. 8)
 
Noise from exhaust change because there is thirth pipe connected to 'double' exhaust which's valve open after pressing sport button and all this will deliver more noise straight from engine ....

Not sure where you heard this but it isn't true.

I don't ever drive with the Sport button off anymore. The steering is ridiculously light with it off and it's much easier to heel-toe with it on. It also means that less pedal travel is required to hold the car at a steady speed on the motorway.

Edit:

In rear exhaust silencer there is inside 3th pipe.... in which, after activation of the sport button exhaust gases begin to flow through... that is why some of the owner mentioned` also different exhaust note.

Still no, there isn't. There is no 3rd pipe or anything other than standard. People have cut into back boxes, there's no trickery in there. Honestly the exhaust note doesn't change, it's a placebo effect. Like thinking the sport button gives you a quicker 0-60.
 
The E85 sport button only does two things on a manual, speeds throttle response and weights the steering, on an auto or SMG box it also improves the gearbox responses. No exhaust flaps or noise changes, no engine mapping or power gains, no suspension changes.
Other BMW models do include some or all of the other features in sport but on the E85/6 it's a placebo button and wonderful man toy.

Can a "Sport" button be easily retrofitted in the facelift 2.0L models?

Don't think the 2.0L models have Sport button as baseline.
