Spidy

I think he's somewhat close and fairly large. I should have taken a picture of the monster that was in my garden a couple of weeks ago :o ! I'm glad I'm not the only 'bug geek' here. I love watching bugs, they're all so different and neat.

Hmmm...maybe I'll start boring y'all to death with some summer bug pictures :scratchhead:

He was pretty big and gone in the morning! Web and all, just packed it up and left. Thanks for those Bee shots. Very nice. Zink

I'll play!

I just picked up a new macro lens and haven't shot any bugs with it yet, so these are all with my other lenses......

First up is a walking stick I found on the house recently.....he's maybe 8 inches long I'd say.....

Close up where you can see his eyes.....incredible bugs!

Next - moth on the patio door.....

Next - giant wasp known as Megarhyssa. The long item on the tail is not a stinger but an ovipositor that is used to insert eggs into a tree - they like dead oak trees and we have one on our property they frequent each year. Wasps body is about 3 inches long, and the ovipositor is at least that long again, so it's quite daunting to see one of these coming your way.....

Next are European paper wasps.....before they were "taken care of."

Dragonfly - tried to get closer but he took off!

Inchworm.....

And last but not least, a Red Admiral butterfly I caught this year - tons of butterflies for some reason this summer.

Zee: that 2nd pic is so you! Look at the butterfly, he looks like he's comin' in for a landing. Reminds me of our Rescue helo when it's approaching the LZ.
Elliot: The large caterpillar is going to be one hell of a beautiful butterfly. Great shots, I've been so busy I just can't find the time to relax and take some shots w/my cheapy-choppy camera :(
