Folks,

Ive noticed recently that the speedo/rev counter/radio (and probably a few other places) go very DIM and then all of a sudden come back to life and be bright again.

Im still under warranty and gonna have it checked out - but has anybody else experienced this?
Im sure it also occured in my prev e46 - but never investigated it then

Cheers!
Jamie

It also happened to all BMWI had. Does it happen everyday? It only happens few times a year.

It sometimes happens on my 3 series. Usually if I cover the sensor by the light switch briefly and then uncover it, it cures the problem. Have you tried that?

Thats a design feature - and yes it does it then - but when it happens to me (without covering this) - its much dimmer like its almost frozen

me too - just now and again and when I notice it's a bit dim, about 2s after its bright again! Never often enough to ask the dealer to investigate though - they would only say - 'didnt happen sir, thatll be £100'

The beauty of warranty :) "erm - yes it did, keep testing please" :)

I know it's a design feature but it is only meant to dim the lights when the ambient light is dim. Covering and uncovering the sensor appears to reset the system and it goes back to the correct setting.

I have the same problem - asked them to check under warranty but got the "can't replicate the problem" and now my warranty has run out.

Its done it to me at the exact same place on the road (on my way to work) twice now, so I think its related to light or some type of electrical signal (microwave/other wireless) ???
