speeding tickets and the z.......

Have you had more since you got the Z?

Got my first one ever last night.

Just wondering how the rest of the Z owners fare on this subject.

Rosie

I got one for being 5kph over the limit. Limit was 50kph and the cop said I was doing 55kph.

I haven't had a speeding ticket in 23 years and that has surprised the hell outta me. It's mostly good luck and eternal vigilence. :driving:

:fightwall: Oh, no..... not that again!!! PLEASE don't tell us what happened next. :?

I got my first one (in the Zed) about 5 months into ownership (not bad...). However, unlike enfield, I WAS going a lot faster, but the cop cited me for just a little over the limit (80mph in a 60mph zone). :)

As it stands, I haven't gotten more since I got the Zed. Self control...8)

I've only had mine since Oct 06 and no tickets yet. Gotta be careful though.

If Rick mentions anything about my recent speeding ticket, he's a dead man. :guns:

I spy something beginning with "C" - I believe it was a type R

It has been over 25 years for me. Got stopped a few year ago but talked my way out of it. (Actually I don't think the cop had a good clock on me.)

 ... :play: ....OK FINE. I'll let you win this time and be :silence: about it.

Next time, I won't be so :innocent:, so expect a :chairfight: until you :surrender:

Rick - I think you are being entirely to subtle in your posts. Maybe you should use more emoticons to help express yourself....

Rosie, come on, you couldn't talk your way out of a speeding ticket? (now I am thinking clear bra here may have helped) LOL
Anyway, I got my first speeding ticket ever after I bought my Z3. And I have been stopped a few times in the Z4M but got away with warnings. And it is a good thing I only got warnings because the last time I had just passed 2 large trucks and a car and was slowing down from a bit shy of 100mph and pulling into the right lane when the officer was going the opposite direction and slammed on his brakes and turned around to come after me. He said I was doing 70mph when he clocked me (it was a 50mph zone).

Sorry to hear that Rosie!

I have been very fortunate so far as to not getting a ticket in all the years I have been driving. Hopefully this does not jinx that streak!

I will admit to having a few close calls that seem to either be the officer giving me a break or the radar was off. I have come around the corner or over the crest of a hill to find the local police coming in the opposite direction, get the "I know you are speeding" look but they haven't bothered to turn around and catch me. :idunno:

I usually keep with the flow of traffic (ahead of it :D ), or just let loose in wide open areas with little to no traffic. Works so far.

Cheers!

Haven't been caught since I got an Origin B2 installed. Got done for doing 34 in a 30 zone beforehand. I had to go to a half day speeding awareness session to avoid 3 points on my license :?

Speed tolerance varies by area but where I live I go 78mph in a 70 zone with no problem. Now urban/suburban streets are mostly a speed trap though. If it states 30mph....one better respect the limit. 15-20+years ago, school zone speed limits were ignored, now it is a revenue source.

I got my first Z in August 2004. No tickets yet. Thanks to a little luck and self control, and a Valentine V1 for road trips.

Um, well....Bob and I see them as "performance awards" I've had 1 since getting together with my Z in July of 04...oh my...she's 3 this month, time for an anniversary celebration. :sweetheart:

Um, it was midnight, and I was truthfully, half asleep, only one car with in a quarter mile of me. I didn't see the cop at all. I wanted to see my pillow and soon...so i cranked it up admitedly more then i usually do. Heck who would be out at midnight? Well apparently a cute cop was. And yes 155, I actually was wearing a short skirt and a skimpy top. But unfortunately I had pulled on my x's XL sweatshirt to be comfy. I had absolutely nothing to flash him. And I was too shocked that I was stopped to try to talk my way out of it, I hadn't been stopped since I was in college...admitedly QUITE a long time ago. And I've never gotten a ticket.......which I admitted to the cop as my only plea to not get one then. But I have to say, surely in the last...uhum...years, I've been owed one or two. Just that aren't you supposed to get speeding tickets when you are much younger? Well, I always was a slow learner.

Once upon a time I was pretty religious about always limiting myself to 9mph over the posted speed limit and went for many years without a ticket. That trend reversed itself after I got an 01' Audi S4 and succumbed to the thrill of the go fast pedal. I bought myself a Valentine V1 but got nabbed again one day when I went to pass a lane weaving soccer mom in an Explorer with a cell phone glued to her ear only to see a motorcycle trooper with a laser aimed at me right as I was passing her. The V1 alarm went off to tell me what I already knew - pull over.

I bailed on using radar detectors and went back to simply setting the cruise control at 9mph over the speed limit and am now over 4 years with a clean record again. If I need an acceleration thrill I head for the freeway on ramps. :yeah:

I fight every ticket that comes my way bar none. I always hire either "points" (for all of Ontario) or "sister's in law" (for London, Ontario) and have no tickets or points that have stuck to me. I suggest fighting every ticket you get.

Um would dating a cop of the city I got the ticket in count?

Oh, but that's highway patrol and the cop is city....guess that wouldn't help. But I may try to bring it up to the cop anyways. Maybe he knows the highway patrol guy. The cop kinda owes me since our 2nd date was on a shovel head Harley and it stopped in the hills and stranded us.

Thanks for the advise AlanL. I was actually pondering getting a radar detector...but you've disuaded me from that.

Enfield are you suggesting I take the class and get zero points? Not sure what hire means.

Socal mine is 3 in July as well, wonder if they were sisters on the line?
