Speed dependent volume control crackling

Evening all :)

Have recently bought an 03 Roadster, however I seem to have developed a problem with the business CD head unit. If you're on the accelerator music is clear and without problems, however as soon as you come off the power the passenger side speaker begins to crackle and break up. As soon as you put your foot back on the accelerator the speaker clears up.

I'm assuming it has something to do with the speed dependent volume control, however with no way of disabling this completely I'm not sure where I should start to fix this. I have tried setting the speed dependent volume control down to its lowest setting however the problem remains.

Does anyone have any thoughts on what this could be? I'm certain this is something that has begun in the last few days, so my first thought is possibly a wire has knocked loose somewhere?

Thanks very much :)

Hi,

This was my first thought, however I couldn't see any way of disabling it completely and have since read that it's not possible :(

If it's adjustable hopefully you can prove the point by moving the speed it happens. Is it out of all speakers or just one? If just the one I think I'd be looking at an iffy connection

Tapatalking...

Now there's an idea!

Discovered last night that it's just the CD changer that's doing this. If listening to the radio there's no crackle when coming off the power.

Guess I'll take a look at the wiring for the changer first...

Had another look at this yesterday and pulled back the boot carpet to check the wiring on the changer. Could only see three wires going in to the back of it and all were securely connected.

So considering it's just the CD changer that has the issue, does anybody know what else I could check in terms of wiring? It's only crackling when coming off the power, so something to do with the auto volume and the changer. But I can't seem to find any info on how the auto volume works?!

Was going to get a DICE or some sort of bluetooth device anyway, but am concerned the problem will appear using one of those too.
