how long after getting camera'd before you get the letter through the post, any idea on average and is there a time limit ? thanks
 
14 days, I've known people to have letters hand delivered by big bods in the likes if marked x5s before on day 14. I say people, it was person.

The police have 14 days in which to serve the registered keeper of the vehicle with a notice of intended prosecution which will set out the details of the alleged offence. If the police haven’t sent you a notice of intended prosecution within 14 days, you have escaped prosecution.
 
it's 14 days for them to ISSUE one, you don't have that timeframe to receive it... ;)

What is the 14 day rule?
The 14 day rule relates only to the period of time in which the Police/Process Unit must serve the original Notice. The Police do not have to prove that the Notice reached its intended recipient within 14 days, merely that in the normal course of events, it should have arrived. In many cases, the registered keeper will be a lease company not the actual driver with the result that even if the driver is unaware of the incident, service of the Notice is good if it was sent to arrive at the registered keeper's last known address within 14 days of the offence.

If you mean continental Europe, as Britain is of course also part of Europe, I wouldn't worry too much if you were not going mental amounts over the speed limit. I have been flashed twice in Germany, and they have never pursued it.
 
Most of the folks I know around here are of the opinion and have had practical experience. As Mrs. Dizz says. A Non Mental offense will most times cost the other country more in paperwork to send out than they could hope to recover from the fine. I even got nipped on the A5 south of Frankfurt airport at 6am on a Sunday. I was the only one on a four lane autobahn. The limit was 100K. I was doing 130. then the limit jumps to 130. 1/4 mile later it went back to 100 and about 100 meters later. there was a camera. Another 1/4 mile later. The autobahn goes to unrestricted. Classic speed trap. I got the notice with my mug shot. Filled out the forms. Sent them to darmstadt. Never heard back. That was two years ago.
 
Flashed in France ..... :D my only comment there is that the French will do anything they like as is there want ...... it could be months but chances are it went straight in the bin.

Got a comment about the "no restrictions" in germany .......
regardless of speed limit, the local plod can issue you with a ticket if they think you were driving too fast for the road conditions .... its fair enough, but one we are not used to.

Genral rule I found that unless the pull you in person .... you never hear anything .....

I was on a motorcycle coming through the tunnel in Antwerrp heading south thinking how wonderfull the noise was as I pushed it over 100 mph ..... looked to my right and there was another motocycle doing the same, only it was painted blue and white and had funny blue flashing lights hahahaha ...... wonderfull conversation followed, he was well impressed with my bike, loved everything about it .... then smiled and said ........ 150 euro's please if you dont mind ...... cash on the spot. :thumbsup:
