Speed Camera Notifications - Hull Daily Mail

Never seen or heard of anything the like of it in West Yorkshire.

I like it though and would be good to have the facility to subscribe to the notifications and receive emails every day

Interesting. I like comment no. 3...

"As the so-called festive season approaches, we can expect plod to be hanging around with speed guns, trying to boost the income from these cash cows. Pity they can't be a bit more pro-active in catching the thieving scum who break into houses and sheds, stealing Christmas presents from honest hardworking people, but then that wouldn't create any income would it?"

It is indeed a real shame that burglaries are not detected quite as frequently as speeding. It would be nice for the Police to require an automated mechanism of prosecution (similar to FPNs for speeding in paid for, insured, taxed and tested cars) due to the excessive volume of criminals being caught for other terrible crimes. Sadly it seems both the Police and the courts can just about manage to keep up with the administrative burden generated by detection levels in areas of crime other than speeding.

Leicestershire constabulary issue a list of which roads their mobile units will be at each week- they don't give specific times/days but its better than nothing. One of their spots is a road near my house so its handy just to see if they will be there at some point during the week....

West Yorkshire fIxed sites

The Police give weekly updates of their proposed sites for mobile vans, that are generally placed where members of the public have written in or complained...

What a load of rubbish.

Just looking at data for my local area spots where mobile speed cameras are put, statistically cant see any dramatic change in incidents but a lot of money was collected.

If I was trying to justify them due to safety you couldn't on these figures. I have seen a few accidents in my time due to the cameras being seen suddenly. An inexerienced driver panic brakes, even though their speed was ok and causes an accident.

and look at ths cash cow where I was done once coasting down a hill at 57 to a hidden tripod camera...wow!

No evidence of changing anything but loads money!

I wouldn't trust that information from that Hull rag particularly since they're still quoting the fine of £60 which was increased to £100 last August.

Northants Police have switched off all Gatso cameras, they list where their 4 mobile vans may be but don't tell you when they will be there.
