We had 2 weeks holiday so I asked OH where, Spain - with the Z4, um-er, OK, car is in good nick 07 2.5i auto so checked the breakdown insurance and off we went.
Dijon first stop standard motorway driving, next day a diversion, set off to Clermont, rolling hills and steep valleys off motorways. That’s when I realized that she had packed the kitchen sink which did not improve handling, on from Clermont across the Millau Bridge, that is just stunning 1000ft above the valley floor, overnight in Millau. Barcelona next day or at least a small resort 15 miles outside for 3 nights, travelling into the city by train. It lives up to its reputation of being expensive and crowded, the Catalans are an independant bunch and they dont hold back telling you. On to Madrid, that was hot 38C, the only time we had to close the top on the Z4 and use the aircon, the car was fine, we were burning. Madrid is well worth visiting, not crowded, lots of museums and other interesting places, 3 nights in a hotel with excellent aircon.

Routing home we chose San Sebastián, that was a mistake, it was once a lovely town, now it’s crowded tourist hell with overnight parking £25. Made our way home via Poitiers and Rouen both with nice off motorway drives through French countryside and villages, ferry back all fine until M25 on a Friday afternoon. Partner Karen did half the driving which made a pleasurable holiday, good navigator too, around 3200 miles on the clock 36mpg.

Sounds like a pretty cool trip, and a fun drive. Ive always fancied a euro trip just never quite got to it get.
